A Count Leaders is typically the person responsible for ensuring attendance is counted, whether they complete the count themselves, or lead a team of counters. This CountTrue guide walks through the Count Leader workflow from login to final confirmation. It is designed to help church attendance counting feel clear, practical, and easier to repeat each week.

Get started as a Count Leader

Count Leaders help the counting team get started, make sure everyone knows when and where to count, and review submitted totals before confirming the final attendance count.

In practice, that means opening the service, inviting counters with a QR code join code, joining the count if needed, and reviewing what comes back before the service is wrapped up.

Log in on your phone

Count Leaders can open CountTrue in their phone browser at counttrue.com. Once logged in, the dashboard shows current and upcoming services, service times, count times, and how many submissions have already been received.

This gives you a quick view of what is happening now and what is coming up next, without needing to chase people or paper.

Save CountTrue to your home screen

If you serve regularly as a Count Leader, saving CountTrue to your home screen can make it faster to open each week. This is optional, especially for counters who can usually join quickly by scanning the QR code.

iPhone

  • Open CountTrue in Safari
  • Tap Share
  • Tap Add to Home Screen

Android

  • Open CountTrue in Chrome
  • Tap the menu
  • Tap Add to Home Screen or Install App

Invite the counting team

Counters do not need a login. When the service is ready, tap Invite Counting Team to show the QR code or share the Join Code.

Counters can scan the QR code or enter the join code on their phone to start counting straight away. That keeps the Sunday flow simple, even when volunteers are joining on the spot.

Join counting yourself

If you are also helping count, tap Join Counting and follow the same counting flow as the rest of the team.

For the step-by-step counter walkthrough, see How to Count Church Attendance Using Seating Layouts.

Review submitted counts

As submissions come in, review them before confirming the final attendance numbers. This is where Count Leader training matters most, because a quick check can help you spot issues while the service is still fresh.

  • Unusually high or low counts
  • Incomplete counts
  • Sections that may have been missed
  • Anything that does not look quite right

Check for high variation

When two or more counts are submitted, CountTrue can highlight high variation between submissions. That gives you a prompt to pause, compare the numbers, and decide whether one count needs a closer look before you finalise attendance.

Confirm the final totals

Once you have reviewed the submissions, select the counts you believe are most accurate and tap confirm. This is the final step in reviewing and confirming attendance counts for the service.

If you are the only counter, you can confirm your own submission after finishing the count.
