1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. CountTrue also uses similar browser technologies, including local storage, session storage, and browser-based authentication persistence. These technologies can remember choices, keep users signed in, save temporary work, and help us understand how our public website is used.
CountTrue does not currently use its own application code to write first-party cookies. However, some third-party services used by CountTrue may use cookies or other browser technologies when their features are loaded.
2. How CountTrue uses browser storage
CountTrue uses browser storage and related technologies for the following purposes:
- Cookie consent: your accepted or rejected choice is stored in local storage under the key
cookieConsent. - Authentication: Firebase Authentication uses browser persistence to keep signed-in users authenticated across page reloads and browser sessions.
- Temporary support access: session storage may be used to hold short-lived support-session information.
- Preferences and drafts: local storage may remember interface choices, onboarding progress, collapsed panels, and unfinished counting drafts.
- Security: CountTrue may use Firebase App Check with reCAPTCHA to help protect the service from abuse and automated traffic.
3. Analytics on the marketing site
CountTrue uses Google Analytics 4 on the public marketing website and the Meta Pixel on public marketing pages and the pre-account sign-up flow. These services measure pageviews and selected interactions; Meta may use this information to measure advertising and build advertising audiences. Neither service is initialised unless you first choose to allow non-essential cookies.
If you reject cookies, CountTrue does not initialise Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel for that browser. Tracking does not cover normal use of the CountTrue application, including attendance, organisation, location, or counting data.
4. Third-party services
Some browser-facing features are provided by third parties. These services may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own privacy and cookie policies when their features are loaded.
- Google Analytics: used only after consent on the CountTrue marketing site.
- Meta Pixel: used only after consent on public marketing pages and the pre-account sign-up flow to measure advertising and build advertising audiences.
- Firebase Authentication and App Check: used for sign-in, browser persistence, and service protection.
- YouTube: videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed domain and are loaded only after you choose to play them.
Server-side services such as email delivery or Planning Center integrations do not, by themselves, place browser cookies through the CountTrue website.
5. Managing or withdrawing consent
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through the CountTrue cookie banner. You can also withdraw consent below; this prevents future Google Analytics and Meta Pixel tracking in this browser.
You can also clear CountTrue site data through your browser settings. Clearing site data may sign you out, remove saved preferences or drafts, and cause the cookie banner to be shown again.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if our use of cookies, browser storage, analytics, or third-party services changes. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
